Team CelebPoker - Poker…

Rein Zijda, a member of Team CelebPoker, announced his arrival on the Live European Poker circuit with a sensational third place finish in the 13th Poker Master Main Event in Seefeld, Austria. The 45-year-old poker professional, from Gouda in Holland, walked away with a cheque for €19,150 after exciting the crowd throughout the two days with his fast aggressive style and nerves of steel.

This prestigious event took place at the Casino Seefeld - a luxurious venue, nestled between mountains in the picturesque alpine region of Tyrol – from 6th-14th June 2009. A field of 84 players lined up for the No Limit Hold’em Main Event, each dreaming of lifting the beautiful crystal winner’s trophy, collecting the €35,910 cash prize and acquiring the title of Poker Master 2009. Zijda was joined in the main field by another six players representing Team CelebPoker, all of whom had qualified online for the event at CelebPoker.com.

Zijda dominated the field for much of the tournament, emerging from Day One at the top of the leader board with 86,700 chips (a huge 20,000 chip lead over his nearest rival) and entering the final table with the second largest stack having played steadily throughout Day Two. Once the final table began, Zijda switched up a gear – gradually picking off the short stacks and building up a fearsome table reputation with a combination of strong play and skilled moves. However, just as it seemed inevitable that the talented Dutchman would go all the way, the cards began to conspire against him and his momentum halted.

Eventually, with his chip stack diminishing, Zijda went all-in pre-flop with 7s7d. He was called by the chip leader, and eventual winner, Gaybor Gyramati with As6s. The flop came Qd As 4s and, in the absence of a further 7 on the turn or river, Zijda’s fate was complete.

So, whilst Hungarian Gyramati who took the title, it was Zijda who took the plaudits and Team CelebPoker who were talk of the town.

A spokesperson for CelebPoker commented, “We want to congratulate Rein on a stunning result at the Poker Masters. His performance has caused ripples throughout the poker world and I’m sure he will use this as a platform to achieve even greater success on the live circuit. He is a credit to Team CelebPoker and an inspiration to all our online players who each have the opportunity to qualify for the team, and play in the World’s greatest live events, just like him.”
